SANDUSKY, Ohio — The Stealin' Home 13U travel baseball team lost in the semifinals at the Golden Spikes Tournament here over the weekend with both losses coming to the Michigan Mudcats.

Pool Play
Michigan Mudcats 7, Stealin’ Home 6

The Michigan Mudcats rallied for six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull off a stunning 7-6 win here Friday in the opening game of pool play.

Stealin’ Home scored a pair of runs in the top of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead, then added three more runs in the third inning on an RBI double by Athens’ Mason Lister, a sacrifice fly by Sayre’s Lucas Horton, and an RBI single by Sayre’s David Northrup.

Stealin’ Home led 6-1 after 6 1/2 innings, but the Muscats took advantage of four walks, including a “walk-off” walk, and an error and scored six runs without an out to rally for the win.

Northrup singled twice, scored one run, and knocked in a run, and Lister and Lucas Horton each doubled, scored a run, and drove in a run to pace SH at the plate, and Cortland’s Jason Carr singled and scored two runs.

Sayre’s Dom Fabbri singled for SH, while Sayre’s Jake Burgess drove in a run, and Athens’ Caleb Nichols scored a run.

Stealin’ Home 11, Thunder 1, 6 innings
Stealin’ Home banged out 14 hits in an 11-1 win over the Thunder in a game that was interrupted by a severe thunderstorm Friday afternoon and completed Saturday morning.

Carr stroked an RBI single in the bottom of the fist inning and Northrup belted a two-run double to give SH a 3-0 lead.

Lister, Sayre’s Brayden Horton, and Lucas Horton each had RBI singles in a five-run fourth-inna rally to give SH an 8-0 lead.

Leading 8-1, SH scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to close out the game. The rally featured a two-run single by Carr, and an RBI fielder’s choice off the bat of Northrup to end the game.

Carr had three singles, scored one run, and three RBI, and Lister stroked three singles, scored one run, and drove in one run to pace SH at the plate, while Northrup doubled and singled, scored one run, and had two RBI.

Brayden Horton singled twice, and scored two runs in the win, while Nichols tripled and scored three runs Sayre’s Kannon VanDuzer singled, scored one run, and knocked in a run, Lucas Horton singled and drove in one run, and Fabbri singled and scored a run.

Lucas Horton earned the win, striking out six in six innings of work.

Stealin’ Home 9, Coyotes 1
Stealin’ Home scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning to overcome an early deficit en route to a 9-1 win over the Coyotes Saturday.

Carr smacked an RBI double, and Northrup ripped a two-run double in SH’s decisive five-run rally. Lucas Horton belted a two-run double, and Burgess added an RBI single in the fourth inning to push the lead to 8-1.

Northrup tripled and singled, scored one run, and had two RBI, and Lucas Horton doubled, scored two runs, and had two RBI to pace SH at the plate, while Burgess singled twice and knocked in a run.

Brayden Horton singled and scored two runs in the win, while Carr doubled and scored a run, Lister singled and scored a run, Fabbri added a single, and Nichols and Susquehanna Valley’s Ryan Rychlewski each scored a run.

Carr and Fabbri shared the pitching duties, and combined to strike out five.

Michigan Mudcats 5, Stealin’ Home 0

Stealin’ Home left seven runners on base, and managed just three hits in a 5-0 loss to the Michigan Muscats Sunday in the semifinals.

Northrup doubled, and Nichols, and Lister each singled to account for Stealin’ Home’s offense.

Stealin’ Home loaded the bases in the top of the second inning on two-out walks to Burgess and Fabbri, and a hit batsman, but left all three runners on base.

The Mudcats answered with two runs in the home half of the second, and three more in the third to take a 5-0 lead en route to the win.
