STATE COLLEGE — The Athens-based Stealin’ Home 13U travel baseball team finished third over the weekend at the season-ending Happy Valley Showdown.
Stealin’ Home went 3-1 in pool play before being eliminated in the semifinals. Both losses came to Beach Lake, Pa.-based Northeast Pride.
Northeast Pride 9, Stealin’ Home 1
Northeast Pride scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take control of the game en route to a 9-1 win over Stealin’ Home in the opening game of pool play.
Cortland’s Jason Carr had three hits, including a double, to pace Stealin’ Home at the plate, while Sayre’s Dom Fabbri singled and drove in a run, Sayre’s Jake Burgess added a single, and Sayre’s David Northrup scored a run.
Stealin’ Home 10, Northern Tier Diamond Jaxx 0
Sayre’s Lucas Horton tossed a one-hitter to lead Stealin’ Home to a 10-0 five-inning win over Coudersport-based Northern Tier Diamond Jaxx Saturday afternoon in pool play.
Lucas Horton, who retired the first seven batters he faced, struck out two and walked one. He allowed only a lead-off single in the top of the fifth inning.
Sayre’s Brayden Horton doubled and singled, scored one run, and drove in a run, and Lucas Horton singled twice, and scored two runs to pace Stealin’ Home at the plate, while Athens’ Caleb Nichols singled twice, scored a run, and drove in one run, and Burgess singled, scored two runs, and drove in a run.
Northrup singed and scored a run in the win, while Sayre’s Kannon VanDuzer added a single, and Athens’ Mason Lister, Susquehanna’s Ryan Rychlewski, and Carr each scored a run.
Stealin’ Home 3, Clarence Stampede 1
Carr and Burgess delivered RBI singles in the top of the fifth inning to lift Stealin Home to a 3-1 win over Clarence (NY) Stampede Sunday morning in pool play.
Brayden Horton singled twice, walked twice, and scored a run, and Burgess stroked a pair of singles and drove in a run to pace SH at the plate, while Rychlewski singled and scored a run, and Carr and Northrup each singled and knocked in a run. Lister scored a run in the win.
Lister earned the win, allowing one run on two hits in four innings with four strikeouts and three walks. Fabbri pitched three scoreless innings of relief to earn the save, allowing three hits, while striking out five and walking one.
Stealin’ Home 8, Youngbloods 4
Stealin’ Home scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning en route to an 8-4 win over the Harrisburg-based Youngbloods Sunday to finish pool play at 3-1.
Brayden Horton gave SH a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning with a two-out, two-RBI single.
VanDuzer knocked home a run in the top of the fourth with a groundout, and Lister drove home two more with a two-out, two-run single to make it 5-0.
After the Youngbloods scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to trim the deficit to 5-4, SH pushed three runs across the plate in the home half of the fifth to make it 8-4.
Lister singled twice and had two RBI, and Brayden Horton singled and drove in two runs to pace SH at the plate, while Nichols singled and scored a pair of runs, and Fabbri singled, scored one run, and drove in a run
VanDuzer singled and knocked in a run in the win, while Lucas Horton singled and scored a run, Carr and Burgess each crossed the plate once, and Rychlewski was hit by pitches twice, and scored a run.
Northeast Pride 9, Stealin’ Home 1
Northeast Pride scored three runs in the first inning and cruised to a 9-1 winnower Stealin’ Home Sunday afternoon in the semifinals.
Northeast Pride tacked on a run in the third inning, and scored five more in the fourth inning to take a 9-0 lead.
Carr stroked a pair of singles to lead SH at the plate, while Lucas Horton added a single, and Lister scored a run.
