COLLEGE FOOTBALL: ATHENS GRAD KERRICK MAKES COLLEGIATE DEBUT FOR HARTWICK COLLEGE; TIOGA GRAD WHITMORE SEES ACTION FOR ALFRED STATE (2017-09-11)

ALFRED, N.Y. — Athens grad Mitch Kerrick, a freshman punter on the Hartwick College football team, saw his first game action here Saturday in the Hawks’ 45-0 win over Alfred State.

Kerrick got off his first two varsity punts for an average of 36.5 yards, including a long of 40 yards.

In a pre-season scrimmage at Becker College, Kerrick had three punts for an average of 37.3 yards, including a long of 45 yards.

Tioga grad Tyler Whitmore, a freshman at Alfred State, also saw action on special teams for the Pioneers.

Hartwick, now 1-1, returns to action Saturday at Cortland, while Alfred State, now 0-2, travels to Rochester.
