WILLIAMSPORT — Sayre senior Ryan Murrelle will make his fourth trip to the PIAA Class AA East Region Championship, while Athens junior Nate Kennedy will making his first trip to the Class AAA championship after their performances here this weekend at the District 4 Golf Championships.

The Valley duo will make the trip to Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood on Oct. 16 with a berth to the PIAA Championships at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York on Oct. 23-24 on the line.

Murrelle, the defending District 4 Class AA, advances to Regionals by virtue of a sixth-place finish, while Kennedy finished second in the Class AAA event.

The top eight advanced in Class AA, while just the top two moved on in Class AAA.

Murrelle, who was in fifth place after shooting an 80 on Thursday, shot a 43 on the front Saturday, and a 41 on the back nine for a round of 84, and a two-day total of 164.

Cowanesque Valley junior Tanner Adriance won the District 4 gold in a one-hole playoff Lourdes Regional’s Evan Salamone.

Adriance fired a 75 Saturday to pull into a tie with Salamone, shooting a two-day total of 154.

Adriance birdied the 18th hole Saturday to erase a two-stroke deficit, thanks to a bogey by Salamone.

Adriance then parred the first hole of extra play, which was hole No. 1, while Salamone, who birdied it earlier in the day, recorded a double-bogey.

Cowanesque Valley’s Austin Outman finished third with a two-day total of 155 (78-77).

Kennedy, who entered the day in third place after an opening-round 84, shot an 87 to finish with a two-day total of 171 — five strokes behind Class AAA champ Roman Reeder of Selinsgrove.

Day 1 leader Derrick Lewis of Williamsport, who shot an 82 Thursday, shot a 46 on the front nine Saturday, and a 49 on the back nine for a round of 95. He finished tied for fourth place with a two-day total of 177.
