SPENCER — Tioga swept all three games in annual “Battle of Halsey Valley” here Saturday in Southern Tier Youth Football Conference action.
Tioga 33, S-VE 12
Four different Tioga backs scored TDs — all on runs of 25 yards or mote — in a 33-12 win over S-VE in “A” Division action under the lights.
Ethan Perry opened the scoring with a 30-yard TD run in the first quarter. Jace Riegel hauled in a pass from Caden Bellis for the conversion to make it 7-0.
Bellis scampered 25 yards for a QB keeper, and Riegel tacked on the conversion to make it 14-0.
Riegel then scored on a 35-yard run late in the second quarter, and Perry tacked on the conversion to make it 21-0 at the half.
Perry opened the second half with a 65-yard TD run to push the lead to 27-0.
Gianni Silvestri capped Tioga’s scoring with a 40-yard TD run on a QB bootleg to extend the lead to 33-0.
S-VE scored two late TDs to provide the final margin.
Tioga returns to action Saturday at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts Chenango Forks in an opening-round playoff game.
Tioga 30, S-VE 18
Tioga rallied from a 12-0 first-quarter deficit to post a 30-18 win over S-VE in “B” Division action.
Despite turning the ball over on the first play of the game, S-VE struck first on a 69-yard TD run by John Johnson.
The Panthers extended the lead to 12-0 late in the first quarter on a 35-yard TD run by Johnson.
Declan McKee put Tioga on the board with a 1-yard TD run, and Logan Bellis tacked on the extra point to trim the deficit to 12-8 at the half.
In the third quarter, Bellis broke off a 54-yard run to set up McKee’s second TD, a 6-yard TD run. Bellis tacked on the two-point conversion to give Tioga a 16-12 lead.
Brennan Sindoni recovered a fumble on the next play, and Bellis scored moments later of a 35-yard TD run. Shea Bailey tacked on the two-point conversion to give Tioga a 24-12 lead.
Johnson ripped off a 56-yard TD run a few plays later to trim the deficit to 24-18.
In the fourth quarter, Jonah Lamb scored on a 41-yard TD run to provide the final margin.
Tioga did not qualify for the playoffs, and will host a consolation game Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
Tioga 28, S-VE 0
Four different Tioga players scored TDs to help the Tigers to a 28-0 win over S-VE in “C” Division action.
Max Stauder opened up the game with a touchdown catch from Aiden Donnelly, who tacked on the 2-point conversion to put the Tigers up 8-0.
After a Tioga defensive stop, Talon Relyea scored on a sweep and Donnelly added the 1-point conversion to give the Tigers a 15-0 lead.
The Tigers forced the Panthers to another three-and-out, and Chase Purcell followed with his first TD of the season. Stauder added the extra point to put Tioga up 22-0 at half.
Nathan Crawford finished the scoring with his first touchdown of the season to provide the final margin as time expired.
Tioga’s defense held S-VE to just one first down in the game.
Tioga returns to action Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in an opening-round playoff game at Vestal.
