ENDWELL — Maine-Endwell took advantage of its home turf in a 6-0 win over S-VE here Thursday afternoon in non-league Section IV field hockey action.
“It was a fast turf game, which (Maine-Endwell) plays very well,” said S-VE coach Maggie Childs. “After the first 15 to 20 minutes, my girls got into the game and were able to move the ball around.
“Unfortunately we did not have any shots-on-goal, but all the girls touch the ball multiple times.
“We need to see this type of game for us to improve for next year,” added Childs. “We showed a lot of heart and a lot of hassle, who could ask for more.”
Allie L’Amoreaux had two goals and two assists for M-E, now 9-5, and Anna Castaldo and Jenna Zunic each had one goal and one assist.
M-E had a 20-0 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 4-0 edge in penalty corners.
Faith Kelly and Jenna VanGelder combined for 12 saves for S-VE.
The Lady Panthers, now 4-9, had a late addition to the schedule, and will play Windsor Monday.
“It will be very interesting to see how we end the season,” said Childs. “We started with Windsor and we were dealt an 11-1 loss.”
