ENDWELL The Athens junior high boys travel team went 3-0 here Saturday to win the title at the Holiday Hoopla AAU Tournament.

Athens beat a pair of teams from Baldwinsville, and a team from Chenango Forks en route to the championship.

Athens 53, Baldwinsville Red 27

Troy Pritchard sparked a big first half to lead Athens to a 53-27 win over Baldwinsville Red in the quarterfinals.

Pritchard pumped in 18 of his game-high 23 points in the first half, and Shayne Reid added five points as Athens raced out to a 27-14 lead at the intermission.

Mason Lister scored six points in the second half to lead a balanced Athens attack, while Carson Smith and Pritchard scored five pints apiece, and J.J. Babcock, and Reid each scored four points.

Reid scored nine points in the win, while Lister and Babcock added six points apiece, and Smith chipped in with five points.

Athens 50, Chenango Forks 28

For the second game in a row, Troy Pritchard fueled a big first half for Athens in a 50-28 win over Chenango Forks in the semifinals.

Troy Pritchard scored 11 points in the first half, while Shayne Reid added seven and Tucker Brown added six points to lead Athens to a 30-17 lead at the intermission.

Athens, which made just 3 of 12 free throws in the first half, connected on 5 of 6 in the second half to help nail down the win.

Pritchard led Athens with 15 points, while J.J. Babcock, who drained a pair of 3-pointers, scored eight points, Reid and Carson Smith added seven points apiece, and Brown chipped in with six points.

Championship Game
Athens 56, Baldwinsville White 49

Troy Pritchard led a balanced Athens attack in a 56-49 win over Baldwinsville White in the championship game.

J.J. Babcock knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, and scored 13 points in the first half, while Tucker Brown, Mason Lister, and Pritchard scored six points apiece to help Athens to a 30-24 lead at the intermission.

Shayne Reid netted 11 points, and Pritchard added 10 points in the second half, while Carson Smith canned a 3-pointer.

Athens made 5 of 7 free throws in the second half to help preserve the win.

Athens is 21-4 on the season.
