THE VALLEY — Mother Nature didn’t quite wipe the slate clean this weekend.
The Tioga boys host the lone game in the Valley, while the Sayre boys are at Elk Lake, and the Athens wrestlers are in action at the NFWOA Tournament at Niagara Community College.
NEB (4-7) at Tioga (6-3), 1 p.m. JV start: The Tigers let a 13-point fourth-quarter slip away in a 58-56 loss to Moravia Tuesday night, while the Panthers topped Sayre, 68-58, Thursday.
Last year, home-standing NEB used a 15-3 fourth-quarter run to rally for a 54-51 win over Tioga. In 2016, Tioga defended its home court with a 54-41 win over the Panthers.
Sayre (3-6) at Elk Lake (3-4), 1 p.m. JV start: The Redskins dropped a 68-58 decision to NEB Thursday, while the Rams topped Blue Ridge, 53-46.
Elk Lake owns a 49-34 win over NEB, and dropped a 54-42 decision to Wyalusing, while Sayre beat Blue Ridge 55-24.
The other common opponent for the two teams is Susquehanna. Elk Lake edged the Sabers 56-54, while Susquehanna Valley topped Sayre 60-57.
Niagara Frontier Wrestling Officials Association Tournament, 9 a.m. @ Niagara Community College: Due to the weather, the tournament has been condensed into a one-day tournament.
Originally, there were 30 teams, including Athens and Grove City from Pa.
Top-ranked Div I schools from N.Y. scheduled to be participating include Lancaster, Clarence, Lockport, Niagara-Wheatfield, Grand Island, Starpoint, St. Joe’s and Niagara Falls. Also scheduled to compete are Division II powers Falconer, Pioneer and Newfane.
