DRYDEN — SVEC won a pair of duals here Wednesday night, topping IAC rival Dryden, and Section III Onondaga-Tully in wrestling action.

SVEC 54, Dryden 24
SVEC won eight of the 10 contested bouts in a 54-24 win over Dryden.

Dryden’s Mitchel Shipman received a forfeit at 99 pounds to open the match, but the Eagles won six of the next seven weight classes to take a 30-12 lead.

Sophomore Kamren Lehman evened the match at 6-6 with a pin of Zack Wilson at 3:40 in their 106-pound bout, then freshman Hunter Cleveland gave them the lead for good with a pin of Miles Couch in 3:01.

Freshman Parker Sexton made it three pins in a row for the Eagles with a first-period fall over Richard Belenger at 120 pounds.

Dryden standout Samuel Dow trimmed the deficit to 18-12 with a first-period pin at 126 pounds, by senior Bryant Sexton got the Eagles back on track with an 11-4 decision over Matthew McKewin-Bates.

Sophomore Alex Morse edged Robert Brotherton, 6-3, at 138 pounds, the junior Kyle Jelliff scored the quickest pin of the night, decking Vincent Scott in 43 seconds at 145 pounds.

After a fall by Dryden’s Isaac Powers at 152 pounds trimmed the SVEC lead to 30-18, the Eagles won five straight bouts, including a trio of forfeits.

Junior Mark Mullen edged Cody Senecal, 5-3, at 160 pounds, then senior Grady Alpert (170 pounds), sophomore Kevin Dobell (182), and freshman Jacob Campolito (195) received forfeits to extend the lead to 51-18.

Junior Mandell Davis notched SVEC’s final win of the match in a wild 16-10 decision over James Jackson at 220 pounds.

Dryden received a forfeit at 285 pounds to provide the final margin.

SVEC 48, Onondaga-Tully 31
SVEC won the first three bouts, including two by forfeit, to take a lead it never relinquished en route to a 48-31 win over Onondaga-Tully.

Lehman received a forfeit at 106 pounds to open the match, then Cleveland added a fall over Noah Hartman in 2:59 at 113 pounds to make it 12-0. Parker Sexton received a forfeit at 120 pounds to extend the lead to 18-0.

Onondaga-Tully got on the scoreboard with a pin at 126 pounds, then freshman Dylan Price edged Bryant Sexton, 5-3, in a battle of state qualifiers at 132 pounds.

Morse got the Eagles back on the scoreboard, beating the second-period buzzer to record a fall at 3:56 over Shane Moore at 138 pounds to make it 24-9. Morse’s win was SVEC’s last win of the match on the mat.

After an O-T pin at 145 pounds, SVEC received forfeits at 152 and 160 to push its lead to 36-15.

After another O-T pin at 170 pounds, SVEC received forfeits at 182 and 195 pounds to make it 48-21.

O-T finished off the match with a major decision win at 220 pounds and a forfeit at 285 to provide the final margin.

SVEC returns to action this weekend at the Mike Watson Invitational at Watkins Glen High School.
