SPENCER — Notre Dame let an early double-digit lead slip away, then used a hot-shooting third quarter to re-gain control en route to a 64-53 win over S-VE here Tuesday night in IAC South boys basketball action.

Ben Cook scored eight points in the first quarter, and Gary Raupers added six as Notre Dame jumped out to a 22-12 lead.

Sophomore Noah Mack scored 10 points in the second quarter for S-VE, and senior Jacob Grier added a 3-pointer as the Panthers roared back with a 17-6 run to take a 29-28 lead at the half.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Raupers pumped in 12 points in the third quarter, including a four-point play, and Dan Stearns and Kyrese Fisher added five points apiece in a 26-12 run that gave the Crusaders a 54-41 lead entering the final eight minutes.

Noah Mack led S-VE with 17 points and six rebounds, while junior Ben VanGalder scored 10 points, freshman James Sutherlin had eight points, six rebounds, and four assists, junior Nathan Mack added six points and 11 rebounds, and senior Zack Sherwood chipped in with five points and three boards.

Raupers led Notre Dame with 20 points, while Cook had 14 points, Fisher added 11, and Stearns chipped in with nine.

S-VE wraps up its 2017-18 campaign at 5-12. (NOTE: It is possible games will be added to the schedule.)
