SAYRE — Sayre finished off the regular season with a 55-10 rout of winless Troy here Thursday night in NTL girls basketball action.

“It’s a great feeling to be through the regular season, and to have a chance to catch our breath before we start the ‘second’ season,” said Sayre coach Eileen Sparduti. “We had a great opportunity tonight to play a lot of different combinations of players, and give our youngest ones some varsity time.

“Now we can turn our attention to what’s happening around the district and start our prep for playoffs,” she added.

Juniors Camry Lane and Stephanie Klavern scored four points apiece in the first quarter, and sophomore Emily Sutryk knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Lady Redskins a 15-4 lead.

Lane and Klovekorn sparked a 13-2 second run with 3-pointers, and Sayre led 28-6 at the half.

Klovekorn and senior Madi Wheeler scored five points apiece in the third quarter as Sayre used an 18-2 blitz to extended its lead to 46-8 entering the final eight minutes.

Klovekorn led Sayre with 13 points, four rebounds, and three steals, while Lane had 10 points and three assists, and Sutryk scored 10 points, and grabbed six rebounds.

Wheeler added seven points in the win, while senior Emily Moore chipped in with six points, senior Blair Wampole contributed six rebounds, four blocked shots, and four steals, and senior Britni Benjamin recorded three steals and one blocked shot.

Sayre wraps up the regular season at 17-5, and will host Athens Thursday in the opening round of the NTL Showdown.
