SHAMOKIN Lourdes Regional was too much for Athens here Saturday afternoon, posting a 54-27 win in non-league girls basketball action.
Playing without starting center Kara Chapman, the Lady Wildcats scored just nine points in the first half, and trailed 31-9 at the half.
The Lady Wildcats scored 11 points in the third quarter, including six by senior Emily Lunger, but the Lady Raiders outscored them 17-11, led by 12 points from Selina Albert, to stretch their lead to 49-20 entering the final eight minutes.
Lunger, who was 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, led Athens with 15 points and seven rebounds, while freshman Megan Collins had six points, sophomore Haley Barry added four points, four rebounds, and three assists, and junior Sophie Adams chipped in with four rebounds and two assists.
Albert led Lourdes with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and Lillyanna Bickel added 14 points
Athens, now 14-7, returns to action Tuesday at North Penn-Liberty.
