|IAC BOYS SWIMMING: TRIPLE-WINNER ATANASOFF LEADS WAVERLY TO TEAM TITLE AT LEAGUE MEET (5 PHOTOS) (2018-02-10)

WAVERLY — Sophomore Mike Atanasoff was a triple-winner to lead regular-season champ Waverly to the team title at the IAC boy swimming & diving championship here Saturday afternoon.
The Wolverines claimed the team title with 463 points, and four first-place finishes, while Southern Cayuga was second with 407 points, and O-M was third with 368 points.
Atanasoff won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.16 seconds, and freshman Ryan Bennett was seventh in 25.25 seconds. Seniors Dalton Loper and Mike Shaffer finished 11th and 12th, respectively.
Atanasoff also won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.65 seconds, and sophomore Josh Lee was third in 53.63 seconds. Junior Trent Wright was ninth, and Shaffer was 11th.
Atanasoff teamed with Lee, senior Jared Stewart, and 8th-grader Kaden Wheeler to win the 400-yard freestyle in a time of 3:29.04.
Freshman Collin Keefer won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:34.82, and senior Tyler Brooks was fifth in 5:53.14. Seventh-graders Oscar Williams and D.J. Shaw finished 12th and 13th, respectively.
Sophomore Gage Streeter finished second in the 1-meter diving competition with 372.8 points.
Lee finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:59.35, while junior Max VanDyke was 11th, and Shaw was 13th.
Wheeler finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 59.94 seconds, and Bennett was seventh in 1:05.83. VanDyke and Oscar Williams finished 11th and 13th, respectively.
Wheeler and Stewart tied for second in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:01.63, and Loper was eighth in 1:09.26. Streeter finished 14th.
The foursome of Atanasoff, Lee, Bennett and Stewart teamed to finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:34.74.
The foursome of Wheeler, Wright, sophomore Mike Tracy and Brooks finished third in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:57.92.
Stewart finished third in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:12.01, while Brooks was fourth in 2:24.02, and Tracy was seventh in 2:31.91. Freshman Max Pan finished 14th.
Tracy finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:15.06, while Pan was fifth in 1:15.74, and Wright was seventh in 1:19.02. Freshman Dillon Madigan was 13th.
Waverly returns to action Wednesday at the Section IV preliminaries.
