ENDICOTT The Lady Wolverines, led by senior Elle Nittinger and sophomore Cora Smith, finished fifth here at the annual Pankhurst Track & Field Invitational on a cold and rainy Saturday, while the Waverly boys, paced by sophomore Isaac Chandler, finished eighth.
Nittinger collected three top-four finishes, and Smith had three top-five finishes to lead the Lady Wolverines.
Waverly finished with 46 points, well off the pace of first-place Ithaca, which tallied 98 points. Vestal was second with 83 points, Horseheads was third with 62, and Elmira was fourth with 51.5 points.
NIttinger won the discus with a throw of 108-feet, 3-inches.
Smith finished second in the 1,500-meter run in a tie of 5:07.88, and 8th-grader Olivia Nittinger was seventh in 5:19.03. Smith also finished fifth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 11:03.8.
Elle Nittinger, and Smith, teamed with Elizabeth Fritzen, and junior Stephanie Hyland finished third in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 10:08.78.
Elle Nittinger, also teamed with Fritzen, Hyland, and junior Sarah Uhl to finish fourth in the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 4:40.29.
Sophomore Paige Ackley finished third in the 400-meter hurdles in aa time of 1:13.45, and junior Kennedy Wheeler finished third in the shot put with a heave of 30-feet, 3-inches.
Sophomore Sheridan Talada finished fifth in the steeplechase in a time of 8:25.94, and Uhl finished sixth in the 200-meter dash in 28.77 seconds.
The Waverly foursome of Emily Tully, Tamara Price, Zoe Lunduski, and Ackley finished sixth in the 400-meter relay in a time of 57.13 seconds.
Hyland finished seventh in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:06.6.
Waverly sophomore Alyssa Simonetti finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 18.67 seconds, and Olivia Nittinger finished eighth in the 800-meter run in a time of 4:45.04.
Chandler recorded a win, and a second-place finish to lead Waverly, while Tioga sophomore Ezra Steele set a new school record in the steeplechase.
Waverly finished eighth with 31 points, and Tioga was 15th in 18-team field with four points. U-E won team title with 79 points, M-E was second with 65 points, and Horseheads was third with 63.
Chandler won the pole vault, clearing the bar at 13-feet. He finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16.19 seconds.
Seniors Dalton Loper, and Matt VanHouten, sophomore Caden Mint, and freshman Dave Hallett teamed to finish fourth in a time of 46.34 seconds.
VanHouten also finished fourth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-feet, 8-inches. He also finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 18-feet, 9-inches.
Steele finished fifth in the steeplechase in a school-record time of 10:45.46, and Waverly freshman Collin Wright was sixth at 10:54.27.
Loper also finished fifth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.84 seconds, and Tioga freshman Evan Hubbard finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in aa time of 1:04.9.
Waverly 8th-grader Nate Ackley finished sixth in the novice 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:04.52
Wright, and Ackley teamed with sophomore Brandon Bubniak, and junior Trent Wright to finish seventh in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 9:47.09.
The Tioga foursome of freshman Evan Hubbard, senior Tony Passetti, junior Alex Bloss, and sophomore David MacWhinnie posted the seventh-fastest qualifying time in the 400-meter relay at 48.13 seconds, but did not fun in the finals.
Tioga junior Ty Middendorf finished eighth in the 3,200-meter run in 11:00.02.
