THE VALLEY — Tioga and Trumansburg will square off for the fourth consecutive season this afternoon in the IAC Small School championship game at Tompkins-Cortland Community College.
IAC Small School Championship
Trumansburg (12-4) vs. Tioga (17-2), 3 p.m. @ TCCC: The Tigers are coming off a 6-3 win over Notre Dame Wednesday, while the Blue Raiders beat Moravia 12-2 on Friday.
Tioga is riding a 14-game win streak, while Trumansburg’s last loss was Wednesday to Union Springs, a 5-4 decision in 13 innings.
Earlier this season, Tioga topped Trumansburg, 8-4, at home.
Last year, Trumansburg edged Tioga, 2-1, in the Small School title game, then beat the Tigers 3-0 in the Class C quarterfinals.
In 2016, Tioga blanked T-Burg, 3-0 for the Small School title, then rolled over the Blue Raiders, 14-1, in the Class C semifinals.
In 2015, the Blue Raiders topped the Tigers 7-1.
Cowanesque Valley (8-6) at Sayre (11-4), 4:30 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 12-2 win over NEB Friday, while the Indians dropped a 4-3 decision at Athens Tuesday.
Earlier this season, Sayre junior James Esposito pitched a three-hitter in an 11-0 five-inning win over CV.
Athens (10-6) at NP-Mansfield (6-9), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 6-3 loss to Valley rival Athens on Friday, while the Tigers dropped a 7-4 decision at Troy.
Earlier this season, Athens junior Nate Kennedy had four RBI to lead the Wildcats to a 13-3 win.
Cowanesque Valley (10-6) at Sayre (2-13), 4:30 p.m.: The Lady Redskins are coming off a 13-2 loss at NEB Friday, while the Lady Indians topped Port Allegany, 10-4.
Earlier this season, Cowanesque Valley blanked Sayre, 9-0.
Athens (8-7) at NP-Liberty (11-4), 4:30 p.m.: (PPD. to Thursday) The Lady Wildcats are coming off a 7-6 loss at Wellsboro, while the Lady Mountaineers topped NEB, 7-1, Monday.
Last week, Athens dropped a 4-3 decision at NP-Liberty.
