The Athens boys are competing in the Class AAA championships, while the Sayre boys are in Class AA. CLASS AAAOnly the champion in each event automatically advanced to the PIAA Championships. However, an athlete can qualify by finishing in the top 8, and bettering the state standard. Dailey is the second seed in the high jump at 6-feet, 1-inch, while junior Zach Trasco is the 11th seed at 5-feet, 6-inches, and sophomore Ben Biles is the 14th seed at 5-feet, 4-inches. (The state standard is 6-feet, 5-inches.) Athens sophomore Damian Hudson is the fifth seed in the 100-meter dash at 11.5 seconds. (The state standard is 11.1 seconds.) Hudson is the sixth seed in the 200-meter dash at 23.81 seconds, and Dailey is the eighth seed at 2386 seconds. (The state standard is 22.5 seconds) Senior Arvid Johnson is the fifth seed in the 400-meter dash in 53.32 seconds. (The state standard is 50.09 seconds.) Senior Nate Aquilio is the fifth seed in the 3,200-meter run at 10:25.55, and sophomore T.J. Toscano is the 12th seed at 10:57.39. (The state standard is 9:31.71.) The Athens foursome of senior Ethan Lane, Aquilio, Johnson, and sophomore Doug Vosburgh is the fifth seed in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 8:46.76. (The state standard is 8:02.04.) The Athens foursome of freshman Benjamin Gambrell IV, Dailey, Hudson, and senior Adam Dieg is the sixth seed in the 400-meter relay at 46.7 seconds. (The state standard is 43.25 seconds.) The Wildcat foursome of Hudson, Lane, Trasco, and Johnson is the sixth seed in the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 3:43.46. (The state standard is 3:24.03.) Gambrell IV is the seventh seed in the long jump at 20-feet, 2 1/2-inches, and Dailey is the 16th seed at 18-feet, 1 1/2-inches. (The state standard is 22-feet.) Senior Sean Waltman is the seventh seed in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 44.46 seconds, and senior Braden Priester is the 14th seed at 48.5 seconds. (The state standard is 39.8 seconds.) Waltman is the eighth seed in the pole vault at 10-feet, 6-inches, and Biles is the 13th seed at 10-feet. (The state standard is 14-feet, 3-inches.) Athletes can also qualify by finishing in the top eight, and meeting the state standard. The Redskins had just two athletes qualify for districts. Junior Joey Stermer is the 16th seed in the discus at 122-feet, 9-inches. (The state standard is 148-feet.), and freshman Zach Belles is the 20th seed in the shot put with a mark of 40-feet, 4-inches. (The state standard is 50-feet, 3-inches.)
