THE VALLEY — Tioga will receive a bye into next week’s Section IV, Class C softball quarterfinals, while Waverly will open the Class B playoffs on the road. Both teams will play May 22.
CLASS C PLAYOFFS
The bracket features three state-ranked teams, topped by top-ranked Edison, Tioga is ranked eighth in the state,and Union Springs is 23rd.
Tioga, now 16-2, is the third seed, and will host the winner of Thursday’s game between sixth-seed Notre Dame (10-7) and 11th-seed O-M (8-7) on May 22.
Union Springs (12-3) is the second seed, and will host the winner of seventh-seed Sidney (10-5) and 10th-seed Greene (9-6) on May 22.
On the other side of the bracket, Thomas A. Edison (16-1) is the top seed, and will host the winner of the game between eighth-seed Harpursville (10-5) and ninth-seed Seton Catholic (3-11) on May 22.
Bainbridge-Guilford (16-1) is the fourth seed, and will host the winner of the fifth-seed Moravia (11-3) and 12th-seed Trumansburg (6-8) on May 22.
CLASS B PLAYOFFS
There are three state-ranked teams in the bracket: Susquehanna Valley is ranked first in the state, Windsor is ranked 12th, and Waverly is ranked 17th.
Waverly (12-4) is the fifth seed, and will play at Oneonta (8-7) in the quarterfinals on May 22. The winner will play at top-seed Susquehanna Valley (17-1) on May 24.
On the other side of the bracket, Windsor (10-7) is the second seed, and hosts seventh-seed Dryden (8-9), while third-seed Owego (4-9) hosts sixth-seed Chenango Forks (8-7) on May 22.
