ATHENS — Jay’s Carpet jumped ahead early, and never trailed in a 13-7 win over Jeff Paul Plumbing in Athens / Sayre Little League Minors Division baseball action.
Jay’s Carpet scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-1 lead, then scored four more in the second to up its advantage to 7-2.
Jeff Paul Plumbing plated five runs in the top of the fourth inning to trim the deficit 8-7, but Jay’s Carpet answered with five runs in the home half of the frame to seal the win.
Duncan Thetga singled twice, scored three runs, and drove in a run, and Seth Krissler singled twice, and scored one to pace Jay’s Carpet at the plate.
Zach Blackman doubled, scored twice, and drove in a run, and Brodie Walker singled, scored two runs, and knocked in a run in the win, while Austyn Stedge singled and had two RBI, Adam Kemp singled and drove in a run, James Friend scored two runs, and had one RBI, and Zach Fisher crossed the plate twice.
Austyn Stedge earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs — one earned — on one hit in two innings of work. He fanned six and walked one.
Connor Garrison singled and scored two runs, and Troy Chilson singled and scored one run to account for JPP’s two hits, while Kaiya Horton, and Emmett Chilson each scored a run, and drove in one run, Ethan Frye and Ty Owen each drove in a run, and Abby Burgess and Caleb Simonds each scored a run.
