THE VALLEY  The Waverly girls wrap up their play in the New York State girls golf championships today, while Tioga sophomore Sam Taylor tees off this morning in Day 1 of the boys golf championships.

GIRLS GOLF
New York State Championships, 11 a.m., Yellow Course at Bethpage State Park, Farmingdale:
Waverly is in fourth place heading into the Day 2 of the first-ever team championships, while junior Alex Tomasso is in 30th place in the individual standings.

The Lady Wolverines are 22 shots behind clubhouse leader Carmel of Section 1, and are just eight shots behind second place.

Sophomore Gianna Picco (38th place), senior Capria Picco (51st), and freshman Sidney Tomasso (56th) are also competing in the individual competition with Alex Tomasso.

BOYS GOLF
New York State Championships, 9 a.m., Robert Trent Jones Golf Course @ Cornell University, Ithaca:
  Taylor will be taking on the Robert Trent Jones for the third time in state competition. He finished 59th as an 8th-grader, and 17th as a freshman.

Taylor will tee off on the 10th hole at 9:56 a.m.
