ATHENS — Athens erupted for 11 runs in the top of the first inning, and then poured 14 runs across the plate in the fourth inning in a 27-1 rout of Tioga-Lawrenceville here Friday evening in the opening game of pool play in the District 15 Little League 11U Baseball Tournament.
Nick Grazul banged out four hits, including a double, scored twice, and had three RBI to lead Athens at the plate, while Carson Rowe had three hits, including a triple, scored three runs, and had six RBI, and Troy Rosenbloom stroked three singles, scored four runs, and drove in three runs.
Matthew Driesbaugh singled twice and scored three runs in the win, while Ethan Hicks singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in two runs, Riley Campbell doubled, scored three runs, and had three RBI, and Eli Chapman singled, scored four runs, and drove in one run.
Braden Reed singled and scored two runs for Athens, while Dylan Saxon singled, scored twice, and knocked in two runs, Parker Wanck scored a run, and drove in two runs, and Ryne Osmond scored once, and knocked in a run.
Rowe started on the mound for Athens, and allowed one run on two hits, while striking out four and walking two. Grazul relieved and struck out all seven batters he faced.
Athens returns to action Sunday when it hosts Tunkhannock.
