ATHENS  Athens jumped out to a big lead early, and Nicholas Jacob turned in a strong pitching performance in a 10-0 four-inning win over Towanda here Friday night in the consolation bracket of the District 15 Little League Majors Division baseball playoffs.

Jacob allowed two hits and struck out five in 3 2/3 innings of scoreless work on the mound, and Korey Miller retired the only batter he faced.

Garrett Thetga singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in a run to lead Athens at the plate, while Connor Mosher doubled, scored one run, and had four RBI, Lucas Kraft doubled, scored one run, and knocked in one run, and Josh Martin and Tyler Roe each singled, scored a run, and drove in a run.

Miller singled and scored a run in the win, while Jacob scored a pair of runs, and Aiden Garcia crossed the plate once.

Athens returns to action Sunday when it hosts Potter-McKean in the consolation bracket semifinals.
