TIOGA, Pa. — Athens jumped out to a big lead early and coasted to a 20-5 win over Tioga-Lawrenceville to remain unbeaten in pool play here Thursday in the District 15 Little League 11U baseball playoffs.
Athens, now 4-0 in pool play, pushed 13 runs across the plate in the top of the first inning, then scored six more in the second to take a 19-2 lead.
Eli Chapman singled three times, scored two runs, and had three RBI, and Nick Grazul had three hits, scored three runs, and drove in a run to lead Athens’ 12-hit attack, while Braden Reed doubled and singled, scored one run, and had five RBI, and Matt Driesbaugh belted a pair of doubles, scored three runs, and had two RBI.
Dylan Saxon singled, scored two runs, and drove in a run in the win, while Troy Rosenbloom singled and scored a pair of runs, Riley Campbell and Ethan Hicks each scored two runs and had two RBI, and Xavier Watson crossed the plate twice.
Chapman allowed three runs — all unearned — on three hits, while striking out four and walking none in two innings of relief. Carson Rowe started for Athens and allowed two runs on two hits in one inning, while striking out two and walking one.
Athens returns to action Saturday at Tunkhannock, which is 1-3 in pool play.
