ATHENS — Senior Tyler Forbes ran for four TDs to lead Athens to its 14th consecutive win in the "Rusty Rail" rivalry game, a 49-0 decision here Friday night at Alumni Stadium.

The Wildcats, who finish the season at 4-6, rushed for 353 yards on 45 carries in the win.

"We talked about it all week that if we controlled the line-of-scrimmage, things were going to go our way," said Athens coach Jack Young. "Our line did that from the very start." ...more

ATHENS — Kaden Rude scored on a 9-yard TD run with 1:47 left in the game to lift Sayre to a 12-6 win over Athens here Thursday evening in NTL junior high football action.

After a scoreless first half that saw both teams penetrate into the red zone without scoring, Athens put up the first score midway through the third quarter on a 7-yard run by Damon Teel. ...more

It's hard to believe Week 10 of the high school football season is upon us.

It brings us season-ending rivalry games for Valley rivals Sayre and Athens, as well as win-or-go-home postseason games for Tioga and Waverly.

Week 9 marked a return to perfection for the football picks, which improved my season mark to 30-3, which is a winning percentage of .911.

SAYRE — The 2014 season wraps up for a pair of Valley rivals tonight as Athens hosts Sayre at Alumni Stadium in the annual "Rusty Rail" game.

The Redskins won the inaugural "Rusty Rail" game in 2000, but Athens has won 13 consecutive decisions since.

After a rash of injuries cost the Wolverines two of their top receivers, their once potent aerial attack struggled in losses to Troy and Lansing.
