It's hard to believe Week 10 of the high school football season is upon us.

It brings us season-ending rivalry games for Valley rivals Sayre and Athens, as well as win-or-go-home postseason games for Tioga and Waverly.

Week 9 marked a return to perfection for the football picks, which improved my season mark to 30-3, which is a winning percentage of .911.

ENDICOTT — Tioga is one step away from playing for their fourth consecutive Section IV title.

Tonight, the Tigers will take on Division VIII winner Moravia, who advanced to the Class D semifinals with a 48-6 win over Notre Dame last weekend. Both teams enter the contest at 7-1. ...more

SAYRE — The 2014 season wraps up for a pair of Valley rivals tonight as Sayre hosts Athens at the Lockhart Street Bowl in the annual "Rusty Rail" game.

The Redskins won the inaugural "Rusty Rail" game in 2000, but Athens has won 13 consecutive decisions since.

MARATHON — Tioga 7th-grader Ezra Steele edged a pair of runners at the finish line to win the boys portion of the IAC Junior High End of the Year Invitational here Saturday morning.

Steele clocked in with a time of 9:16.8 on the 1.67-mile course, edging out S-VE's Levi Mickelson by .9 seconds and Dryden's Brotherton by by 2.1 seconds.

After a dismal start to the 2014 soccer postseason, the Athens and Sayre boys provided a bright Saturday afternoon with a pair of exciting wins.

The Wildcats scored early and led 1-0 until the 15-minute mark of the second half when Mifflinburg tied the game, which eventually went into overtime.

TIOGA CENTER — The Tioga junior varsity volleyball team capped off a perfect season here Friday evening with a sweep of Union Springs for their sixth consecutive — four Large School and now two Small School — IAC division title.

Perfect in every season as the junior Lady Tigers finished the season at 17-0 — every match via sweeps. They also won two tournaments, winning every set in pool play. ...more

Waverly coach Jason Miller has always gone against the grain a bit with his philosophy to use the pass to set up the run.

After a rash of injuries cost the Wolverines two of their top receivers, their once potent aerial attack struggled in losses to Troy and Lansing.
