If there's a more exciting running back in the area than Tioga's Jesse Manuel, I haven't seen him.

Incredibly quick, agile and able to cut on a dime, Manuel also delivers more punishment upon would-be tacklers than he receives on a high percentage of occasions.

Friday night, the junior broke Tioga's school for career rushing yards in grand style, running for 215 yards — all in the first half.

Brian Dougherty's record stood for nearly 34 years. If he remains healthy, Manuel's may never be broken. ...more

TIOGA CENTER — Tioga celebrated its 2014 home opener at Haggerty Field Friday night with a 56-6 rout of Candor and a record-setting performance by junior Jesse Manuel.

Manuel entered the game needing 195 yards to eclipse the school's career rushing record of 4,223 yards, set by Brian Dougherty from 1977-80. He wasted little time in etching his name into the record book, gaining 215 yards in the first half. ...more

Don't look now, but the Athens girls are poised for another NTL title, the question is can it produce a third consecutive unbeaten league run.

It's pretty early to say they'll run the table, but with wins over Wellsboro and Troy already under their belt and Troy's dismantling of Sayre Tuesday, the Lady Wildcats appear to be more than capable of doing so. ...more
