CORTLAND Tioga standout Sam Taylor shot a 3-under par round of 68 to win the 15U Division at the Walden Oaks Country Club stop on the Central New York Junior PAG Tour.
Taylor, a sophomore-to-be, had the lowest round of the day regardless of age. His round included an eagle, two birdies, and just one bogey.
Landon Rozewski of Dryden finished second with a 71, and Tyler Thomas of Corning was third with a 72.
Rozewski birdies the the third and fifth holes, andi led Taylor, who carded his only bogey on the fourth hole, by three strokes after five holes.
Taylor scored a birdie on the 329-yard, par-4 6th hole to trim the deficit to two strokes. Rozewski bogeyed the seventh and ninth holes to finish the front nine with a 35 tied with Taylor for the lead, and two strokes ahead of Thomas.
Taylor took the lead for good with an eagle on the 451-yard, par-5 10th hole. Rozewski and Thomas each carded birdies on the 10th.
Taylor followed up the eagle with a birdie on the 397-yard, par-4 11th hole to stretch his lead to two strokes over Rozewski, and five strokes over Thomas.
Taylor finished out the round with seven consecutive pars for a 3-under par 33 on the back nine.
The match was still in doubt until the 17th hole when Rozewski, who birdied the 14th to pull within a stroke of Taylor, carded a double-bogey on the 134-yard, par-3.
Sayres Murrelle finishes 7th in 18U Division
Murrelle shot a 79 and finished six shots off the pace set by 18U Division winner Jake Domagal of Whitesboro.
Murrelle struggled to a 6-over par 41 on the front nine, and trailed Domagal by four strokes. He settled down a bit and shot a 2-over par 38 on the back nine, including birdies on the 452-yard, par-5 14th hole, and the 155-yard, par-3 17th hole.
