WAVERLY - Waverly used a fast start and a balanced attack to post a 47-33 win over S-VE here Friday night in IAC junior varsity boys basketball action.
Davis Croft scored eight points in the first quarter, including an old-fashioned three-point play and a 3-pointer, and five of his teammates also put their name in the scoring column as the junior Wolverines raced out to a 17-5 lead after the first eight minutes.
After an even second quarter sent Waverly into the halftime locker room ahead 25-13, Joey Tomasso scored seven points in the third quarter, including a 3-pointer, to help the Wolverines up their lead to 14 points, at 36-22, heading into the final eight minutes.
Six different Wolverines scored in the fourth quarter, including Brady Blauvelt, who buried a 3-pointer.
Croft led Waverly with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Tomasso had 10 points and four rebonds, and Blauvelt had eight points and four rebounds.
Liam Traub chipped in with four points and eight rebounds in the win, while Kobe Decker had four rebounds and Nick VanHouten had four assists.
Marcus Brock led S-VE with 15 points, while Garrett Cooke, Connor Forrest, and Connor Wallenbeck added four points apiece.
Waverly returns to action today at Thomas A. Edison, while S-VE hosts Union Springs Tuesday.
