WILLIAMSPORT - Sayre senior Josh McClelland was a double-winner here Saturday at the Williamsport Coaches Swimming Invitational, while his classmate Kayla Kittle and Athens freshman Brooke Kopatz turned in the best performances on the girls side.
Central Columbia won the team title with 436 points, well ahead of runner-up Danville, which had 365 points. Sayre was ninth in the 14-team field with 67 points, and Athens was 12th with 33 points.
McClelland won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:53.4. He also won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.59 seconds
Sayre senior Joe Stermer finished eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:16.82.
Athens sophomore Mason Henderson finished 12th in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.86 seconds.
Jersey Shore won the team title with 405 points, edging runner-up Williamsport, which had 397.45 points, by 7 1/2 points. Sayre finished ninth in the 14-team field with 67 points,and Athens was 12th with 33 points.
Kittle finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.44 seconds
Kittle also placed fifth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:01.2, and senior Claire Shaffer was 15th in 1:05.65.
Kopatz placed fifth in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:40.32.
Athens junior Sierra Ardrey finished 10th in the 100-yard butterfly i a time of 1:19.27, and Kopatz was 12th in a time of 1:22.33.
Athens freshman Raven McCarthy-Gardner finished 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:24.29
Sayre senior Emily Lattimer finished 14th in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:29.32.
Athens and Sayre return to action Tuesday at Sayre in the NTL Championships.
