SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. - Sayre grad Blair Wampole finished off a record-breaking freshman season at Corning Community College with nine points and three rebounds in the Lady Red Baron's 75-48 loss here Tuesday in the quarterfinals of Region III women's basketball playoffs.
In its previous game, Corning CC dropped an 85-67 decision to Onondaga CC in the conference semifinals.
Wampole had eight points, nine rebounds, one assists, and one blocked shot. The blocked shot was the final of Wampole's single-season school record 95 this season, an average of 4.1 blocks per game.
Wampole, who started in all 23 of Corning CC's game, led the Lady Red Barons with 7.6 rebounds per game, including a team-best 2.1 offensive boards per game. She averaged 7.5 points per game, and shot 38.1 percent from the field, and had 33 assists and 15 steals on the season.
Corning finishes the season at 10-13.
