COLLEGE SOFTBALL: TIOGA GRAD CULVER NAMED CONFERENCE 'PITCHER OF THE WEEK' (2019-04-14)

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Tioga grad Mariah Culver, a freshman on the Caldwell University softball team, racked up four wins to earn the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference "Pitcher of the Week" honors for the week ending April 8.

Culver was 4-0 with one save in six appearances on the week, with a 0.57 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings.

Culver opened the week by earning the win in Caldwell's 4-1 win over Dominican in the second game of a twinbill on April 2. She allowed an unearned run on six hits, while striking out four and walking two.

Waverly grad Shailei Kraft was 1-for-2 against Culver. Kraft was 1-for-3 in Domincan's 5-3 loss in the first game of the twinbill.

On April 4, Culver tossed 5 2/3 innings of two-hit ball in a 13-1 win over Concordia. She struck out three and walked two.

On April 6, Culver retired the final two batters for a save in the opening game of a doubleheader against Holy Family, then earned the win in the nightcap, allowing one run on two hits in five innings for work.

She capped the week on April with five innings of relief to earn the win in a 12-8 decision against Chestnut Hill. Culver allowed four runs - all unearned - on five hits, while striking out four and walking none.

On Wednesday, Culver picked up the win in Caldwell's 4-3 extra-inning win over American International. She allowed three earned runs on six hits, while striking out eight and walking one in eight innings of work.

On Saturday, Culver earned the win in Caldwell's 2-1 extra-inning win over Wilmington. She allowed one run on five hits in nine innings, while striking out five and walking one.

On the season, Culver is 10-9 with a 2.20 ERA. She has allowed 107 hits in 111 1/3 innings, while striking out 82 and walking just 17.

Caldwell, now 22-16, returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Georgian Court University for a doubleheader.
