T-BURG "” Waverly junior Isaac Chandler and sophomore Collin Wright, who turned in a school-record performance, were the only Valley athletes to earn first-place finishes here Thursday in Day 1 of the IAC Track & Field Championships.

Chandler won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.19 seconds. He also ran the fastest qualifying time in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking in at 15.47 seconds.

Tioga junior Kobe Enberg finished 11th in 18.78 seconds, while Waverly sophomore Skyler Dengler was 13th at 19.61 seconds, and Tioga sophomore Evan Hubbard was 14th at 19.8 seconds.

Wright won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a school-record time of 10:02.85, breaking the record he set Friday by 11 1/2 seconds.

Waverly senior Trent Wright finished eighth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 54.71 seconds, and Waverly freshman Sam VanDyke was 13th in 55.71 seconds.

Waverly freshman Liam Traub finished ninth in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:01.05.

Tioga junior Dom Wood finished 11th in the shot put at 34-feet, 7 1/4-inches, and Trent Wright was 14th at 34-feet, 3/4-inches.

Tioga freshman Emmett Wood narrowly missed the finals of the 100-meter dash, finishing ninth in 12.13 seconds, while 7th-grader Johnson and sophomore Caden Wheeler tied for 11th in a time of 12.19 seconds for the Wolverines.

PRELIMS
The Waverly foursome Chandler, Sam VanDyke, Johnson, and sophomore David Hallett finished fourth in the 400-meter relay in Large School Division, and qualified for the finals with a time of 46.18 seconds. The finals will be run Friday.

Day 2 action begins Friday at 4:45 p.m.
