COLLEGE BASEBALL: SAYRE GRAD WILLIMAS FINISHES SOPHOMORE SEASON AT ST. BONAVENTURE ON A HIGH NOTE (2019-05-20)

OLEAN, N.Y. "” After an injury-filled freshman season Sayre grad Matt Williams finished his sophomore season strong as Division I St. Bonaventure's starting first baseman.

In his last 10 starts of the season, Williams had five multiple-hit games, including back-to-back three-hit games. He hit .308 in that stretch.

For that season, he had eight multiple-hit games, including three three-hit games.

On April 9, Williams blasted his first career home run, a three-run shot in a 10-6 win over Niagara.

On the season, Williams played in 38 of 45 games, and started 29. He hit .258 (31 hits in 120 ABs) with 16 runs scored, four doubles, one home run, and 15 RBI. He also drew 14 walks and had a .350 on-base percentage, which was third on the team.

He committed just two errors at first base and had a .982 fielding percentage.

The Bonnies finished 11-32 this season.
