COLLEGE BASEBALL: WAVERLY GRAD STILLMAN LEADS HERKIMER TO NJCAA DIVISION III WORLD SERIES BERTH (2019-05-20)

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. "” Waverly grad Brendyn Stillman missed 13 games this season due to injury, but he came up big when Herkimer College needed him in the postseason.

With the General facing elimination, Stillman went 7-for-14 with four home runs, eight RBI, and nine runs scored to lead them to four straight wins, a  NJCAA Region III championship, and a trip to NJCAA Division III World Series.

After a loss to Erie Community College on Friday, Herkimer - the top seed - bounced back with an 11-10 10-inning come-from-behind win over Niagara College Saturday. Stillman, who stroked an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to tie the game at 10-10, was 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in the win.

Later on Saturday, Stillman slugged a pair home runs to help the Generals avenge its loss 24 hours earlier with a 12-7 win over Erie CC. Stillman was 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored.

On Sunday, Herkimer beat Finger Lakes CC twice to earn the win.

In the opener, Stillman doubled and scored three runs in a 13-3 win. In the winner-take-all nightcap, Stillman smacked a solo home run in a 7-2 win.

On the season, Stillman has played in just 27 of 40 games. He is hitting 414 (29 hits in 70 ABs) with six doubles seven home runs and 27 RBI.

Stillman has walked 29 times for an-base percentage of .594. He has a slugging percentage of .800 and an OPS of 1.394.

Stillman will play next season at Division I St. Bonaventure.

The Generals, now 34-4-2 on the season, will compete in the NCJAA Division III World Series in Greeneville, Tenn. May 25-29.
