SECTION IV BASEBALL: TIOGA OPENS PLAYOFFS AT HOME, WAVERLY WILL MAKE SHORT ROAD TRIP (2019-05-21)

THE VALLEY "” The Section IV baseball playoffs begin this week with Tioga opening at home Friday, and Waverly opening with a short road trip Thursday.

CLASS B PLAYOFFS
Fifth-seed Waverly (14-6) will travel to take on fourth-seed Owego (6-12) Thursday at 2:15 p.m.

The winner will square off with the winner of the game between top-seed Susquehanna Valley (10-4) and eighth-seed O-M / Watkins Glen (9-8) on May 29 at the higher seed's home field.

On the other side of the bracket, second-seed Windsor (14-6) hosts seventh-seed Dryden (9-8), and third-seed Oneonta (9-6) hosts sixth-seed Chenango Valley.

CLASS C PLAYOFFS
Second-seed Tioga (13-4) hosts 15th-seed Groton (4-9) in the opening round of the Class C playoffs Friday at 4:30 p.m.

The winner faces the winner of the game between seventh-seed Newark Valley (7-7) and 10th-seed Harpursville (10-6) on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Also on Tioga's site of the bracket, third-seed Edison (11-4) hosts 14th-seed Unadilla Valley (5-7), and sixth-seed Greene (12-6) hosts 11th-seed Unatego (6-8) on Friday.

At the top of the bracket, top-seed Deposit-Hancock (12-2) received a bye into the quarterfinals, where it will face the winner of the game between eighth-seed Sidney (12-7) and ninth-seed Delhi (10-6).

Fourth-seed Notre Dame (8-6) hosts 13th-seed Walton (6-7) Friday in the quarterfinals, while fifth-seed Lansing (11-5) hosts 12th-seed Newfield (5-6).

The quarterfinals are Monday at higher seeds field at 4:30 p.m.
