VESTAL - Junior Isaac Chandler and sophomore Collin Wright broke school records here Tuesday to pace Waverly's efforts at the Section IV, Class B Track & Field Championships.

(Top-three finishers in each event advance to next week's Section IV State Qualifier, as well as anyone who meets the provisional standard.)

Chandler won the 110-meter hurdles in a school-record and state "super standard" time of 14.87 seconds, and sophomore Skyler Dengler was sixth in 19.49 seconds. The previous record of 15.0 seconds was set by Chad Woodruff in 2001.

Collin Wright finished second in the 3,200-meter run in a school-record time of 9:52.02, and 7th-grader Liam Wright was ninth in 12:24.38. The previous record of 9:56.96 was set by Will Mullen in 2010.

Chandler also won the pole vault, clearing the bar at 13-feet, 6-inches, and freshman D.J. Shaw was third at 8-feet.

Sophomore Caden Wheeler won the long jump with a leap of 20-feet, 6 3/4-inches.

Wright teamed with senior Dylan Ward, junior Brandon Bubniak, and sophomore Jayden Rose to win the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 8:51.75.

Waverly's foursome of seniors Trent Wright, Ward, and Tyler Saxon, and freshman Sam VanDyke  finished third in the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 3:40.06.

Seventh-grader Ralph Johnson finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.72 seconds, and Saxon was sixth in 25.34 seconds. Johnson finished sixth in the 100-meter dash in 11.98 seconds, and Wheeler was seventh in 12.04 seconds.

Trent Wright was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 55.2 seconds, and Sam VanDyke was fifth at 56.84 seconds.

Sophomore Alex Gadow finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 34-feet, 11-inches, and Bubniak was ninth in the 800-meter run in 2:19.68 seconds.

Freshman Nate Ackley finished 11th in 5:03.37, and freshman Liam Traub was 13th in 5:05.93.
