NTL BASEBALL: ATHENS' RUDE NAMED 'PITCHER OF YEAR;' THREE OTHER WILDCATS EARN ALL-LEAGUE HONORS (2019-06-13)

THE VALLEY — Athens junior Keegan Rude was named NTL ‘Pitcher of the Year,” and three of his teammates also received all-league honors in recent voting by the league’s coaches.

Wildcat seniors Nate Kennedy and Ethan Witherow received first-team recognition, while senior Joe Parshall received a second-team nod.

Sayre junior Quinn Hanafin was named the “Player of the Year,” while Sayre freshman was named the “Rookie of the Year,” and Canton’s Bob Rockwell and Jay Perry were named “Coaching Staff of the Year.”

FIRST TEAM
Keegan Rude, junior, pitcher:
Rude posted a 6-4 record with a 0.23 ERA on the season. He struck out 32 and walked 13 in 30 1/3 innings pitched.

He allowed 18 hits on the season, and opposing batters hit just .155 against him this season.

Nate Kennedy, senior, shortstop: A sure-handed shortstop, Kennedy hit .384 (28 hits in 73 ABs) with six doubles, one home run, 21 RBI, 24 runs scored, and three stolen bases. He had an on-base percentage of .438 and an OPS of 0.944.

Ethan Witherow, senior, second base: Witherow hit a team-best .419 (26 hits in 62 ABs) with seven doubles, one triple, 11 RBI, 27 runs scored, and four RBI. He walked 16 times and has an on-base percentage of .550, with an OPS of 1.115.

SECOND TEAM
Joe Parshall, senior, first base:
A solid defender, Parshall hit .348 (23 hits in 66 ABs) with eight doubles, two home runs, 21 RBI, and 19 runs scored. He had a .561 slugging percentage, and a .982 OPS.
