NTL SOFTBALL: ATHENS' ADAMS NAMED 'DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF YEAR;' FOUR WILDCATS EARN FIRST-TEAM HONORS (2019-06-13)

THE VALLEY "” Athens senior Emma Adams was named the NTL "Defensive Player of the Year," and four of her teammates earned first-team all-league honors in recent voting by the league's coaches.

Wyalusing's Melody Kneller was named "Player of the Year," while Troy's Riley McClellan was tabbed the "Offensive Player of the Year," and North Penn-Liberty's Savannah Doney was named the "Pitcher of the Year."

A speedy outfielder who covers a lot of ground, and has a strong arm, Adams did not commit an error this season.

At the plate, Adams hit .564 (31 hits in 55 ABs) with eight doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 13 RBI, 24 runs scored, and seven stolen bases. She was 10 times for a .642 on-base percentage, to go along with a 1.127 slugging percentage, and an impressive 1.769.
 
FIRST TEAM
Emma Repsher, sophomore, first base:
A great glove at first base, Repsher hit .458 with four doubles, 11 RBI, 16 runs scored, and one steal. She had an on-base percentage of .529, a slugging percentage of .525, and an OPS of 1.054.

Repsher did not commit an error in 99 defensive chances.

Megan Bennett, junior, pitcher: Bennett was dominant in the circle this season, posting a 12-3 record with a 0.94 ERA. She struck out 157 and walked 18, while allowing 71 hits in 110 1/3 innings, with opponents hit .190 against her this season. She tossed eight shutouts on the season, including one no-hitter.

At the plate, Bennett hit .419 (26 hits in 62 ABs) with four doubles, one triple, 14 RBI, 10 RBI, and three steals.

Harley Sullivan, sophomore, catcher:
A top-notch defender with a strong arm (threw out 6 of 12 base stealers), Sullivan hit .431 (25 hits in 58 ABs) with eight doubles, one triple, two home runs, 22 RBI, 25 runs scored, and one steal. She had an on-base percentage of .507, a slugging percentage of .706, and an OPS of 1.214.

Haley Barry, junior, designated hitter: A stellar defender at the hot corner and shortstop, Barry was named to the team as a designated hitter.

Barry hit .361 (22 hits in 61 ABs) with five doubles, one home run, 14 RBI, 12 runs scored, and one steal.
