SCHOLASTIC TRAK & FIELD: WAVERLY'S CHANDLER PLACES SECOND IN POLE VAULT AT HIGH SCHOOL NATIONALS (2019-06-16)

WAVERLY'S SMITH COMPETES IN 2-MILE RUN

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Waverly junior Isaac Chandler finished second in the pole vault Friday at the New Balance Nationals High School Outdoor Track & Field Championships here on the campus of North Carolina A&T University.

Chandler cleared the bar at a personal-best 15-feet, 1 1/2-inches to win silver in the Boys Emerging Elite Division.

Colton Emeott of the Kentwood Track Club in Michigan won the gold in the pole vault a 15-feet, 7 1/2-inches.

Waverly junior Cora Smith finished 36th in the Emerging Elite finals of the 2-mile run.

Smith clocked in with a time of 11:48.08, while Sarah Murrow of St. James Academy (Kansas) won the gold in the 2-mile run in a time of 10:48.58.
