WYALUSING "” Athens poured nine runs across the plate in the top of the third inning en route to a 13-2 four-inning win over RTL here Monday evening in pool play action in the District 15 Minors Division baseball playoffs.

Athens had just five hits, but took advantage of 11 base on balls and four errors in building a 13-0 lead through 3 1/2 innings.

Duncan Thetga singled twice, scored two runs, and had three RBI, and Cartyr Cockroft singled, scored one run, and drove in two runs to lead Athens at the plate, while Sam Cheresnowsky singled, scored two runs, and knocked in one run, and Graham Wanck singled and drove in three runs.

Kamdyn Wheeler scored two runs and drove in one run in the win, while Alex McQuay scored two runs, and Conner Davidson, Lucas Schultz, Peter Bertsch, and Zach Fisher each crossed the plate once.

Thetga started and tossed three innings of no-hit ball, striking out five and walking two to earn the win. Cockroft struck out the only two batters he faced to escape a jam in the fourth inning and preserve Athens' win under the 10-run "mercy" rule.

Athens hosts Sayre Friday at 6 p.m. in the final game of pool play.
