BIG FLATS — Big Flats scored 15 runs in the third inning and cruised to a 22-3 win over Waverly here Thursday evening in pool play action in the District 6 Little League Minors Division baseball playoffs.
Big Flats scored four runs in the first inning, and three more in the second to take a 7-0 lead after two innings.
After Big Flats sent 20 batter to the plates in the top of the third inning to up its lead to 22-0, Waverly scored three runs in the home half of the first inning, but the game ended due to the “mercy” rule.
Dan Cummings singled and scored one run, while Griffin Walters doubled, and Jack Pipher singled to account for Waverly’s three hits. Rylee Stotler and Rylan Yeakle each scored a run.
Waverly, which dropped a 12-5 decision at Elmira Tuesday (no results provided), is 0-3 in pool play, and will play at Elmira Heights Saturday at 11 a.m.
