POPLAR RIDGE "” Sophomore Willow Sharpsteen was a triple-winner, but it wasn't quite enough as Southern Cayuga pulled out a 50-44 win here Tuesday afternoon in IAC girls swimming action.

Sharpsteen won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:36.59, and sophomore Delaney Vascoe was second in 2:41.18.

Sharpsteen also won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:09.63, and sophomore Mackenzie Nichols was third in 1:23.51.

Sharpsteen teamed with senior Mara Callear, sophomore Sophia DeSisti, and Nichols to win the 400-yard freestyle in a time of 4:30.78.

Sophomore Lourden Benjamin won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:11.81, and Nichols was third in 1:18.07. Benjamin also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:22.24, and Callear was third in 2:31.76.

Vascoe won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:26.59.

Senior Maggie Whitley finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:05.44. She was third in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.68 seconds.

Callear also finished third in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:42.78.

Waverly, now 2-2, hosts Dryden Thursday.
