ROCHESTER - Collin Wright finished fifth to Waverly to a fifth-place finish in the A-2 unseeded Small School race here Saturday at the prestigious McQuaid Invitational, hosted by McQuaid Jesuit H.S.

Falconer won the team title with 62 placements points, and Southwestern was second with 107 points, while Waverly tallied 241 points and Athens was eighth with 287 points in the 34-team field that featured 275 runners.

Wright clocked in at 16:31.4, while senior T.J. Toscano paced Athens' effort with a 26th-place finish in a time of 17:13.5.

Sophomore Nate Ackley finished 30th in a time of 17:26.0 for the Wolverines, while junior Jayden Rose was 61st in 18:02.9,senior Brandon Bubniak was 70th in 18:13.4, sophomore Kaden Wheeler was 91st in 18:52.4, and sophomore Liam Traub was 126th in 19:13.1.

Sophomore Kyle Anthony was 46th in 17:41.1 for the Wildcats, while sophomore Matt Gorsline was 59th in 18:02.2, and junior Connor Dahl was 75th in 18:20.7, freshman Nate Prickitt finished 111th for the Wildcats in a time of 19:02.7, while sophomore Brendon Jones was 140th in 19:31.9, and sophomore Sander Bertsch was 170th in 19:58.9.

JV RACE
Athens junior Justin Lynch was the top Valley finisher in the junior varsity race, which featured a field of 331 runners, finishing 58th in a time of 20:02.8.

Senior Ben Biles finished 131st in a time of 21:23.8 for the Wildcats, while junior Mason Henderson was 144th in a time of 21:35.9, and freshman Dustin Krise was 264th in 23:22.5.

Waverly sophomore Matt Atanasoff finished 70th in a time of 20:16.9, while freshman Jerrel Sackett was 84th in 20:39.4, sophomore Gavin Schillmoeller was 113th in 21:03, and freshman Sam VanDyke was 143rd in 21:35.3.

Waverly returns to action Tuesday against Dryden at Tompkins-Cortland Community College, while Athens travels to Cowanesque Valley.

Athens, Waverly, and Sayre will run Thursday in the annual Tom Koons Valley Meet at the Litchfield Elementary School.
