WINDSOR - Waverly went 3-9 in pool play at the rugged Windsor Tournament here Saturday, but senior setter Chloe Croft put her name in the record book.

Croft recorded 62 setter assists to establish a new school record with 914 for her career, breaking the previous record of 873 set by Sam Mennig in 2014..

Waverly opened pool play with losses of 25-17 and 25-20 to Windsor, and 25-11 and 25-15 to Horseheads.

The Lady Wolverines got in the win column with a 25-21 decision over Vestal, but the Bears bounced back with a 25-21 win.

Powerhouse Owego, who owns three Class B state titles in the last six years, recorded wins of 25-20 and 25-23 as Waverly dropped to 1-7.

Waverly swept Johnson City by scores of 25-20, and 25-23, but dropped its final two sets to defending Class D state champion Bainbridge-Guilford by scores of 25-22 and 25-13.

Senior Paige Lewis led Waverly with 28 service points, including six aces, 17 kills and a team-high 36 digs, while Croft also tallied 24 points and 28 digs, and senior Adrianah Clinton had 22 points, including six aces, a team-high 19 kills and 20 digs.

Senior Izzy Garvey had 13 points for the Lady Wolverines, while sophomore Sidney Tomasso had 12 points and 11 digs, junior Maddy Goodwin added 16 kills and 19 digs, senior Morgan Adams registered 16 kills and a team-high six blocks, and sophomore Aryan Peters recorded 21 digs.

Waverly returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Tioga.

JV: The Waverly junior varsity team finish 4-8 in pool play in the Windsor JV Tournament.

Waverly won its first four games, topping Susquehanna Valley 25-17 and 25-14, and B-G 25-21 and 25-14.

The junior Lady Wolverines were then swept by Ithaca (25-22 and 25-17), Johnson City (25-22 and 25-20), Windsor (25-14 and 25-16), and Vestal (25-12 ad 25-17)

Taylor Hall led Waverly with 42 service points, including 17 aces, while Kennedy Herriman had 27 points, including 19 aces, 18 digs and 25 setter assists, Aubrey Ennis had 23 points, 34 digs, and nine kills, Michaela Lauper added 18 assists and 19 digs, and Paighten Streeter chipped in with 13 kills.
