TOWANDA "” Wellsboro used a strong second half to blow open a close game en route to a 48-31 win over Sayre here Wednesday night in NTL girls basketball action.

Wellsboro led 7-3 after the first eight minutes, but Sayre trimmed a point off the lead in the second quarter, thanks to seven points by junior Gabbi Randall, and four points from senior Emily SUtryk, who had all three of Sayre's points in the first quarter, and trailed 17-14 at the half.

The Lady Green Hornets outscored Sayre 15-7 in the third quarter to extend they lead to 32-21 at the end of the third quarter.

Sutryk led 17 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, six rebounds, six steps, three assists, and two blocked shots, while Randall had 12 points, 11 rebounds, and one blocked shot. senior Maddie Wilson added three rebounds, and freshman Gabby Shaw notched three steals.

Cathryn Brought and Emma Coolidge led Wellsboro with 10 points apiece, and Kiyah Boyce and Bailey Monk each had eight points.

Sayre, now 0-3, hosts Mountain View Saturday at 1 p.m. (Varsity only.)
