NTL JV BOYS BASKETBALL: ATHENS ROLLS TO 72-19 ROUT OF WILLIAMSON (2019-12-12)

ATHENS "” Athens raced out to a 17-point first-quarter lead, and led by 37 at the half en route to a season-opening, 72-19, win over Williamson here Wednesday evening in NTL junior varsity boys basketball action.

Shayne Reid pumped in 10 points in the first quarter, and Tucker Brown, Mason Lister, and Chris Mitchell added four points apiece as the junior Wildcats jumped out to a 23-6 lead after the first eight minutes.

The points kept coming in the second quarter as Brown and Ethan Wilcox scored six pointe apiece, and Lister added five points, including a 3-pointer, in a 24-4 blitz that stretched the Athens lead to 47-10 at the half.

Ryan Thompson scored eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the second half as Athens outscored Williamson 25-9, including a 14-0 third-quarter run.

Reid led Athens with 19 points, while Brown scored 14 points, Lister and Thompson had 11 points apiece, Mitchell and Wilcox added eight points apiece, and Aquilio chipped in with four points apiece.

Athens returns to action Friday at North Penn-Liberty.
