TIOGA CENTER "” The 6th Annual Knights of Columbus / Dan Manwaring Memorial Free Throw Championships was held here at the high school Saturday, and 10 boys and girls - ages 9 to 14, from Tioga and surrounding areas won the "council level" title.

The competition, sponsored by the Blessed Trinity Council #251 of Tioga County, featured shooters in each age group attempting 15 free throws. (Shot made are listed in parenthesis after the winner's name.) If a tiebreaker was needed, each competitor shot five more free throws until the tie was broken.)

GIRLS
 9-year-old: Kyah Nelson (2);
10-year-old: Adrienne Delmage (8);
11-year-old: Lillian Mezzatesta (6 - 5-for-5 in tiebreaker over Isabelle Taylor);
12-year-old: None;
13-year-old: Lily Mesler (4);
14-year-old: None.

BOYS
 9-year-old: Evan Canfield (4);
10-year-old: Joshua Rought (9);
11-year-old: Jackson Bombard (10);
12-year-old: Nicholas Slater (3);
13-year-old: Emmitt Guiles (11);
14-year-old: Matthew Aquilio (10).

All of the winners will advance to the chapter level in Rochester in early March, with an eye on moving to the regional level at Syracuse in mid-March, and ultimately to the state championship at West Point in April.
