IAC BOWLING: TIOGA BOYS, GIRLS RECORDS SWEEPS OF SHORT-HANDED MARATHON (2020-01-16)
Valley Sports ReportCORTLAND "” The Tioga boys and girls both recorded sweeps of short-handed Marathon teams here Thursday afternoon in IAC bowling action at Cort-Lanes.
BOYS
Tioga 4, Marathon 0Junior Kolton Pond banged out a 600 series to lead first-place Tioga in a sweep of Small School rival Marathon, which had just four bowlers in action.
The Tigers won a 2,337 to 1,497 total-pinfall victory.
Pond rolled games of 173, 244, and 194 for a 611 series, while sophomore Rocco Fariello shot a 530, which included games of 199 and 227, and sophomore Dylan Slater had a 479.
Alex Middendorf rolled a 403 for the Tigers, while Levi Card added a 314, and senior Ty Middendorf tacked on a 229.
Freshman Gage Cain rolled a 447 in reserved for Tioga.
Caleb Boice led Marathon with a 417 series
GIRLS
Tioga 4, Marathon 0Tioga used a balanced line-up to earn a 4-0 win over Marathon.
Senior Mackenzie led the Lady Tigers with a 371 series, while junior Destini Sweet shot a 359, and senior Bailey Elston had a 351.
Freshman BobbiJo Tarbox had a 335 in the sweep, while junior Cassie Birney added a 322, and freshman Caroline Chapman tacked on a 310.
Tioga returns to action Saturday in the IAC Mid-Season Tournament at Valley Bowling Center.
