IAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: FAST START PROPELS WAVERLY IN 60-22 WIN OVER DRYDEN (2020-01-17)

DRYDEN "” Waverly ran out to a big lead early, and cruised to a 60-22 winner Dryden here Thursday evening in IAC South Large School junior varsity boys basketball action.

Brady Blauvelt pumped in 10 points in the first quarter, including a 3-pointer, and Brennan Traub added five points, including a 3-pointer, to help Waverly to a 22-5 lead after the first eight minutes.

Davis Croft scored four points in the second quarter, and Tyler Talada knocked down a 3-pointer in a 14-6 spurt that gave the junior Wolverines a 36-11 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

Waverly stretched its lead to 46-17 heading into the final eight minutes, then closed out the game with a 13-5 run, fueled by four points by Isaiah Bretz, and 3-pointers by Croft and Liam Traub.

Blauvelt led Waverly with 12 points, three rebounds, and four steals, while Croft had 11 points, five rebounds, and three steals, Brennan Traub had 11 points, six steals, and three boards.

Bretz, who was 3-for-3 from the field, scored seven points in the win, while Liam Traub had six points on a pair of 3-pointers, Nalen Carling added five points, 11 rebounds, six steals, three assists, and Nate DeLill chipped in with four points, and Declan Murphy grabbed five rebounds.

Waverly, now 10-1, returns to action Thursday when it hosts Whitney Point.
