TIOGA CENTER "” Tioga's Keon Staples dominated in the paint, but Union Springs' Ryan Brown rained down 3-pointers on the Tigers in a 61-43 win here Friday night in IAC junior varsity boys basketball action.

Staples pumped in 28 points for the junior Tigers, but Brown drained eight 3-pointers and scored 32 points in the win.

Staples scored 13 points in the first half, while Josh Reis added seven, and Shea Bailey connected on a 3-pointer, to help Tioga to a 23-22 lead at the halftime intermission.

Brown, who had a trio of 3-pointers and 12 points in the first half, knocked down three 3-pointers in the third quarter to fuel a 17-9 run run that gave the junior Wolves a 39-31 lead entering the final eight minutes.

Brown scored 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the fourth quarter, and Dawson Halverson added eight points as Union Springs closed out the win with a 22-12 run in the final eight minutes.

Staples scored 15 of Tioga's 20 points in the second half.

Reis added nine points for Tioga, and Shea Bailey chipped in with six on a pair of 3-pointers.

Halverson added 14 points for Union Springs, and Dustin Walawender chipped in with 10.

Tioga returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Deposit-Hancock.
