SAYRE "” Towanda jumped out to a 10-point first-quarter lead and topped Sayre, 34-23, here Monday evening in NTL junior varsity girls basketball action.

Towanda led 14-4 after the first eight minutes, and 20-18 at the half.

The Lady Black Knights upped their lead to 28-14 heading into the final eight minutes, before the Lady Redskins used a 9-6 spurt to close the gap.

Maddie Smith led Sayre with six points, while Hayli VanDyke added five points, and Gabby Shaw added four points.

Bella Hurley led Towanda with 11 points, and Gracie Schoonover added eight points.

Sayre returns to action Wednesday at NEB.
