Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY - The Waverly boys host Whitney Point in a match-up of IAC Large School  divisional hoop leaders, while the Athens boys host North Penn-Mansfield looking for their fourth straight win over a divisional foe.

Also at home Thursday are the Waverly bowlers, and the Sayre grapplers.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Whitney Point (6-4, 6-0) at Waverly (10-1, 6-0), 5:30 p.m. JV start:
The Wolverines are going off an 87-47 win over Dryden Thursday, while the Golden Eagles knocked off McGraw, 54-51, in a non-league tilt Tuesday.

Sayre (6-7 overall, 3-6 NTL Small) at NEB (8-7, 4-5), 6 p.m. JV start:
The Redskins are coming off a tough-luck, 52-49, loss to first-place North Penn-Liberty Tuesday, while NEB dropped a 57-49 decision at Canton.

North Penn-Mansfield (9-6, 6-3) at Athens (9-3, 7-2), 6 p.m. JV start:
The Wildcats are coming off a 65-47 win at Troy Tuesday, and  have also beaten Wellsboro and first-place Wyalusing in a three-game win streak, while the  Tigers knocked off arch-rival Wellsboro, 66-60, Tuesday,

Wyalusing, at 9-1 in league play, leads the Large School Division by 1 game in the loss column over Athens. North Penn-Mansfield and Troy are 2 games off the pace.

WRESTLING
TIoga (5-0 overall, 4-0 IAC Large)  at Dryden, 6 p.m.:
The Tigers are coming off a 72-18 romp over Whitney Point, and can win the IAC Large School title tonight with a win at Dryden, which dropped a 45-30 decision to divisional rival Newark Valley.

Mountain View at Sayre, 7 p.m.:

Sayre at Towanda, 4:30 p.m.

BOYS BOWLING
Newark Valley (25-7) at Waverly (22-10), 3:30 p.m.:
The Cardinals lead the Wolverines by 3 games in the IAC Large School standings, thanks in large part to a sweep at their home center earlier this season. Union Springs / Port Byron is in third place four games off the pace.

Waverly leads the IAC with a 948 pins per game average, while Newark Valley is fourth at 874.

Waverly freshman Zach Vanderpool (199) and senior Derrick Canfield (197) are 2-3 in the IAC lin average, while NV's Alex Umiker (193) and Jason Brown (190) are 6-7.
 
Tioga (27-1) at Edison (4-24), 3:30 p.m.: The Tigers are 3 1/2 games ahead of Groton in the Small School standings, while Edison is in fifth place in the division.

Tioga is third in the IAC with an average of 875 pins per game, and Newark Valley is fourth at 874.

Tioga junior Kolton Pond (190), freshman Gage Cain (185), sophomore Rocco Fariello (184), sophomore Dylan Slater (182) are 8th through 11th in average in the IAC.

GIRLS BOWLING
Newark Valley (16-16) at Waverly (25-7), 3:30 p.m.:
The Wolverines are second in the Large School Division, six games off the pace of front-running US / PB, while the Lady Cardinals are in fifth place.

Eighth-grader Rachel Houseknecht (178) and freshman Victoria Houseknecht (175) are 1-2 in average in the IAC for Waverly, while freshman Shantilly Decker (150) is 11th.

Newark Valley's Lilly Austin (151) is 10th.

Waverly is second in the IAC with an average of 777 pins per game, while Newark Valley is fifth at fourth at 638.

Tioga (10-18) at Edison (6-22), 3:30 p.m.: TIoga is in fourth in the Small School standings, and Edison is in fifth.

The Lady Tigers average 572 pins per game, while the Lady Spartans average 589.
